Let There Be Love
Part Two

Our love for God endures because we expect the rewards when we die and so we continue going to our mosque, church, temple or other houses of worship to redeem ourselves. We are uncertain of our relationship and how it is going to end up and so, we keep on praying until our last breath for fear of inciting God’s wrath.

Throughout life we live in fear, doubt and hope, not in certainty.

We see no re-action, no opposition to our giving in this life since it has been promised after death. Even when we see calamities after years of worship, we put it down to being tested and exercise patience since God rewards those who are patient. We seem to have worked this one out very well about loving God, a needless entity, yet we expect the reward very quickly from our partners or those who we give to, and if they don’t reciprocate we create drama.

Giving freely should not be dependant on receiving. Giving is in itself receiving. Love is all about giving and it is in giving that we receive the highest joy.

In a sense we become nothing and in becoming so, we become everything through our lover. The lover and the beloved become one in love. This unity can only be achieved and personified through the power of love.

Since the purpose of religion is to inspire us, then perhaps we should take a leaf from our holy books!

Trust and certainty are the basic ingredients for any successful relationship. The only expectation in such a relationship is the other person’s happiness. We do everything to make our partner happy and they reciprocate likewise.

When someone loves another, we say they have “fallen” in love. The word “fallen” speaks volumes about what love is. When we fall, we are likely to loose our head and become irrational. We go to extreme lengths to satisfy and impress the one we have ‘fallen’ in love with.

Such love between two people is not dependant on circumstance. Lovers are happy being together under any conditions, whether they live in a shack or in a palace. Their desire to make each other happy grows infinitely. Their love becomes more important than breathing. It is the feeling of being complete. The lover sees the whole world in the beloved. It is not about searching for your soul mate as much as about loving the one you are with as your soul mate. One worships the other. They become God of each other.

Our existence is dependant on love. It is the ultimate of our creation and manifestation as humans. Life without love is meaningless. Every human being not only yearns for love but also deserves to love and be loved. It is the ultimate purpose for existence.

Then why we do not practice this sort of love to give life to our relationship; to make all things eternal?

Stories from all religions tell us that all prophets and wise men had the love of a woman but they did not respond to that love and went on searching for God’s love. I believe this resulted in our separation from each other. In today’s world we have billions of people who are sincerely looking for the love of God and do not look for a similar love in each other. This adulterous energy comes between two people and prevents them from reaching the ultimate connection.

One might say that a husband and wife consumed by their love for God have achieved purity in love. However, one forgets that God is needless. Indeed God relishes in the sight of two humans loving each other for the sake of each other, since this is the ultimate gift that God gave to humans to share with each other and with the rest of His Creation.

In purity consciousness a person reaches the state of self awareness; of being certain about themselves and their choices. Doubt plays no part in such consciousness. Two people who have reached such consciousness become one through love. One becomes nothing for the other. In this nothingness one becomes everything in the other. Only in such consciousness love can be applied in this manner. It is not possible to see each other as pure love if we apply inherited limitations.

Love means relying; trusting and believing in the one we love. It means two people resonating with the same energy under all conditions yet free from any condition. This is Applied Oneness in this life.

When we come to live in love in every moment of our life, we re-affirm our own ultimate existence, achieve eternal life and fulfill the purpose of Creation through sharing that love.

This is living in the present in love.
